The Curriculum

The National Curriculum ensures continuity of learning. Our lessons aim to challenge and encourage each child and achievement records are kept to monitor continuous progress.

We have recently reviewed our curriculum, and we now offer exciting and engaging topics which incorporate key skills across all subjects, while enabling children to learn in a fun way.

Your child’s class teacher will send out information about the curriculum to be covered at the beginning of each term. If you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher in person, or ring the school office to make an appointment.

2015/16

Curriculum coverage for this year is as follows:

Subjects

More Able Children

Children at Cavendish Close Junior School who have been identified as more able are given opportunities both within and outside of the curriculum to further enhance their particular gift or talent.

The teaching staff ensure all children are given opportunities to extend their knowledge, skills and understanding. As appropriate, groups of children are given opportunities to deepen and broaden their knowledge and skills alongside the curriculum. They are encouraged to take part in extra-curricular activities and to become involved in the Gifted and Talented Summer Schools, depending on their abilities.
