Communication forms the basis for learning and teaching in English. The National Curriculum for English is adapted to suit all our pupils, taking into account their talents and stage of development. We utilise a wide variety of exciting texts and ICT based resources in order to stimulate an active interest in the effective use of our language. We analyse, interpret and appreciate the works of others, as well as producing our own texts for appropriate audiences in a range of genres.
Speaking and listening skills are nurtured and supported, as we believe that verbal interaction is essential for effective literacy. The subject is fun and inspirational, as we discover the rewards of being literate members of society.
Parents are asked to play an active part in this by sharing and discussing texts at home.
Most importantly, constructive conversation is the key to developing independent, well informed communicators. Please join in!
